World Compassion Day at Vydehi Hospital

World compassion day 1

In the 21st century, where people’s compassion is consumed within themselves, we celebrated World Compassion Day on a different note. On 10th May, which is World Compassion Day, six counselors (Mili Chakraborty, Aditi Roy, Jyoti Mittal, Lipika Phani, Manjula and Supriti Ghosh ) of Emotional Support Group of Indian Cancer Society (ICS) along with myself decided to do something different which conveyed sense of humanity among mankind.
World compassion day 2

We visited the patients of the female and pediatric wards of Vydehi hospital, Bengaluru. Our contribution was a gesture to bring out a deep sense of compassion towards the needy and ailing on this notable day. We arranged to buy and distribute biscuits, toys, indoor games, juice cans among the wards of the oncology department. We were happy to spend time with the patients and the smiles on their faces made us feel that all our efforts were worthwhile. It also made us reminisce on our lives and be thankful that we are privileged and blessed.

We distributed the eatables among everyone we met – patients, caregivers, doctors, nurses, including the liftman of the hospital. This event gave us immense pleasure and inner satisfaction. I am happy I was part of this group and
took back a priceless experience with me.
