As a recent government study noted there has been a drop of 70% in cancer patients seeking treatment as outpatients. Being immuno-compromised they are in a dilemma since they have to miss clinical follow-up and scheduled interventions and find themselves emotionally drained. That is the extent the pandemic has severely impacted even non-Covid patients.
To address this gap, ICS has set up a Helpline with the support of the Health Dept of the Government of Karnataka as well as Oracle, completely in accordance with the Guidelines issued by the Government for Tele-medicine. This initiative has been started in the rural and semi-urban segments of Bengaluru Rural, Chikballapura, Ramanagara, Dakshina Kannada and Bengaluru urban Districts to begin with.
It assists cancer patients and caregivers with :
a) Patient navigation and facilitation to the nearest health-care centre; b) Assistance in accessing ongoing treatment; c) General consultation and diagnosis ; d) Emotional Counselling for Cancer patients and Caregivers dealing with anxiety and stress.
